A Legacy of Hope...
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River has served the youth of the Colorado River Valley since 1987. Originally opened as the Kiwanis Youth Center, the Boys & Girls Clubs began running programs in Bullhead City in 1987, receiving its charter in March of 1988.
Soon after, the Laughlin Boys & Girls Club began running programs out of a mobile unit at Bennett Elementary School. The unit was purchased for the Club by the Laughlin Lions Club, and housed the program for several years. With an ever-growing attendance, the Club grew out of the mobile unit, moving to the old Laughlin Firehouse on Casino Drive. 1996 saw the construction of the Spirit Mountain Activity Center, housing a new permanent Clubhouse.
In January 1998 the Bullhead City Club celebrated its 10th anniversary by opening its newly remodeled and expanded Clubhouse. Today the Club features the WARMC Social Recreation Games Room, a Library Room, Technology Lab, Arts & Crafts Room, the Mohave Electric Cooperative Kitchen and THE CLUB Teen Center.
In August 2004 the Fort Mohave Club began operating out of the Mohave Valley United Methodist Church, serving youth in the Fort Mohave community.
Today the Club continues to offer life enhancing programs and hope and opportunity to over 4000 youth in the Colorado River Valley. Through Club membership and community outreach the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River strive to be the number one youth serving organization in our community.
As we celebrate 20 years of serving thousands youth, we look forward to continuing a Legacy of Hope and Opportunity for our kids. Our Clubs will continue to strive to serve more kids and to have a profound impact on those that we serve. Our youth today will become the leaders and mainstay of our community and our economy tomorrow; by aiding in their positive development, all of society benefits.
